Personal Description:

I am a native Farsi/Persian speaker with a masters degree in general linguistics, passionate about grammar, structure and sounds. I have a bachelor's degree in material science and engineering, deeply fascinated by physics, geometry and chemistry, but easily bored in an industrial work environment, which lead me to such massive shift in study area; through studying different languages I had the chance to become more familiar with so many fascinating variations amongst different societies on the planet, yet there is way more to observe :)
I love talking about languages and analysing different lingual behaviors in different languages… I am also pretty good at mimicking different sounds in different languages, even ones that do not exist in either Farsi of English, i.e. languages I speak.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been a TA(teaching assistant) for two years at Western University in London Ontario, and have been a research assistant for last 3-4 years. I have TAed for Phonoloy, Syntax and Intro to linguistics, and tutored for almost everything in linguistics :D
I was nominated as the best TA for 3rd semester I was TAing, and though I didn't get to be chosen (there were other nominees with more votes ;p :D ), it was the sweetest reward for me.

Tutoring Approach:

I think once someone sees the beauty behind any subject, it will be way easier for them to try to understand the concept; in fact, they will enjoy the whole procedure… and once someone understands a concept, it will remain in their data storage, namely brain, for longer rather than merely memorizing it, thus, learning happens!
That being said, my approach has always been to try to represent and illustrate for the students the very core concept and meaning of the materials taught. I believe there is joy and excitement in understanding things, as it has always been for myself; just as there is exhaustion when one experiences difficulties understanding a concept… Thus, my main approach is to try to find a way to make the understanding procedure easier and to communicate the concepts the most proficient.
