Personal Description:

The main thing the most effective teachers I've known have had is a passion and enthusiasm for their subject. Because of this enthusiasm, they know how to present the subject in an interesting way. As an English tutor, I strive to make my lessons conversational and interactive because it's important the student participate in their learning.

Tutoring Experience:

I earned bachelor's degrees in both Psychology and Sociology. I began tutoring students about five years ago and discovered that I have great enthusiasm for teaching, especially English topics like reading, writing, and reading comprehension. I was mentored in these subjects and developed a love of reading and writing because of it.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a Socratic teaching philosophy. This means I like to challenge my students with questions and I work to teach them how to think instead of solely feeding them facts. It's more important my students learn how to think and not what to think. This method also helps them retain information better because they truly understand it.
