Information About Kathleen
This is how 2 referees rated Kathleen:
Hi! My name is Kat and I am an elementary school teacher specializing in students with learning disabilities. I have expereince teaching grades 1 to 11 and especially love teaching math. I believe in helping students build a growth mindset and build confidence in themselves. As a learner, sometimes we all need a little help in seeing things from a different perspective in order to gain better understanding. I can help with that.
Six years teaching elementary schools - primarily grades 1, 4, and 5 but familiar with curriculum in all grades.
Four years tutoring in Math, Science, English, and Social Studies in grades 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11.
Building a solid and respectful relationship is vital. You have to like who you are learning from and feel safe and welcome. I strive to understand my students and learn who they are as a learner so that I can find the best way to tutor them.
To help students see, feel and change what concepts they are learning, I like to use manipulatives and visuals. Additionally, I also like to apply techniques connected to retrieval practice to help students remember and recall lessons and information long term.
