Information About julie
This is how 2 referees rated julie:
I have lived in the Markham area since 1983 and have two adult daughters. I have my Reading Specialist, Primary/Junior Science Specialist, and qualifications in ELL and Special Education. I love working with children and love teaching!
I have taught for over 20 years. I have taught homeroom classes from 3 - 7 and have taught many subjects to students from kindergarten to grade 8. I currently teach Intermediate Special Ed and also run our school library. I have tutored for 5 years - mostly math but also working on various assignments the students are working on. Whatever the student is struggling with becomes our focus. I regularly take co-op students from the high school and teacher candidates from universities to work closely with as I enjoy being a mentor to future teachers.
I enjoy building relationships with the students I teach. My approach is disciplined but casual. I want the students to feel comfortable with me but to also strive to achieve at their highest level. My approach to ensuring students learn is to observe them trying. It is through this observational assessment that any misunderstandings in their learning become visible. It is also crucial for students to develop confidence in their abilities and so confidence building through success is very important to me.
