This is how 2 referees rated Jill:
I am a second year medical student at the University of British Columbia. I grew up in Toronto, and completed my undergraduate degree at McMaster University (in Hamilton) where I studied Health Sciences.
After graduating from McMaster in 2017, I spent a year tutoring (so it was essentially my full time job). I have over 400 hours of tutoring experience. I can teach Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Math but my forte is teaching Grade 9 - 11 Math and Grade 9 - 12 Chemistry.
Given the current COVID-19 crisis, I will only be offering tutoring online (either on Skype, Zoom, or other online mediums).
I am flexible with my teaching style and will customize each tutoring session to meet your needs. My goal is to make tutoring fun, and to build confidence in the subject area. I believe that "Math" and "science" people don't exist, and with a little bit of a confidence boost and a lot of hard work, anyone has the capability of being good at these subjects.
Various approaches I have taken in the past:
- Offering study/note-taking tips
- Finding/creating supplementary practice questions if you want to build more confidence in a particular topic
- Diagrams/visuals to improve information retention
