Personal Description:

I am currently completing my final year of Electrical and Biomedical engineering at McMaster University. Through the duration of my four years studying engineering, I have developed immense problem solving and critical thinking skills, which will be invaluable to helping students understand their studies. While it is one thing to learn and understand the material, it is important to be able to simplify the material and break it down for students. This is a crucial skill I can bring forward to tutoring.

Tutoring Experience:

I have much experience doing tutoring from being a LEAP Academy Instructor and Director, McMaster’s engineering outreach program for high school students, I have turned complex engineering concepts into simplified lessons and hands on learning experiences for students. Along with my patience and creativity, I enhanced through this experience and my experience of leading workshops at the Ontario Science Centre. Without giving visitors the answer, I was able to patiently guide them to come to the solution themselves, as I would with helping students. Similarly, I also have experience developing lesson plans to teach people of all ages how to skate from no prior knowledge to developing their prior skills. This can be applied to tutoring students, where I would adapt my lesson plans according to their needs and prior knowledge. This past year I have also been tutoring and teaching elementary students with the charity Empowerment Squared and secondary school patients at McMaster's Children's Hospital.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in breaking down and simplifying the problem so students can come to the final solution on their own! This includes working enthusiastically and patiently to fully understand concepts.
