Personal Description:

I recently graduated from Bayview's IB programme am currently a freshman at NYU majoring in business at Stern. Due to the pandemic, I will be studying remotely for the first semester. However, my academic persona only represents a small portion of who I am. In my free time, I enjoy reading and manage a small calligraphy business (designing and selling cards) through my website and online store.

Here are some interesting facts about me that will hopefully help you get to know me better!

Favourite Book (at the moment): A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles
Somewhere I Dream of Travelling: Singapore
Favourite Subjects: English, French, History
Favourite TV shows: Brooklyn 99, Planet Earth, and Sherlock (BBC)
Myers-Briggs Personality Type: ENFP

Tutoring Experience:

I have formally tutored at my school for 2 years in which I taught grade 9 pre-IB mathematics and grade 10 pre-IB math. Additionally, I have 2 years of experience as a DECA and debate trainer, through my extra-curricular involvement.

This summer I have worked at a private academy teaching gr.1-2 math as well as gr.5-6 public speaking/writing. I have taught up to 10 students at a time via Zoom.

Tutoring Approach:

I am naturally inquisitive and bring that enthusiasm as a tutor! I believe that academic support comes in many forms and relies on a positive and welcoming learning environment. Therefore, I prioritize communication and maintaining a friendly atmosphere--the trust I build with my students makes lessons more comfortable and fun, enhancing their academic improvement as well. I believe one of my greatest strengths as a tutor is my patience, I understand that making mistakes is a critical part of the learning process and encourage risk-taking.

Having taught numerous students, I know the importance of adjusting my teaching methodology to suit my tutee's learning styles and keep an open mind to feedback.

Lastly, I like to celebrate my students' accomplishments! It can be anything from a text message of encouragement to a small snack, but I believe that it is important for my students' hard work to be appreciated and recognized.
