Personal Description:

Hi all! I am a Chinese Canadian student currently completing a degree in Physiology at the University of Toronto. I have been tutoring my younger brother his schoolwork since elementary school, therefore the passion to teach is already part of me. I volunteered as an English tutor in Chinese local elementary schools for two years, and tutored Chinese for teachers in an international school. I am currently a first-year mentor at the University.

Tutoring Experience:

Chinese: Having grown up in China but attended English speaking school since 11, I am bilingual in English and Chinese, both written and spoken. In addition, I am working as a Mandarin interpreter at Mount Sinai Hospital. As a native speaker with a diverse cultural background, I am very knowledgeable about Chinese culture, and can very well adapt to your level and learning style.

Biology and Chemistry: I am completing a degree in Physiology and therefore have a strong background in Biological science. I currently have a cGPA of 3.91, and have won a scholarship from the University. Having worked in two Biochemistry and Physiology lab for one full year, I accumulated abundant knowledge in the subject area and possesses skills essential to become a good tutor for you.

Tutoring Approach:

For Mandarin, I use a mixture of study material, conversation, and learning activities. Each tutoring section will be conversation-based, with activities to reinforce learning. Readings and homework may be given before and/or after class. However, I am very flexible with different learning styles.

For Biology and Chemistry, I can cover specific topics will be during each session and go over practice questions, but I am very flexible with different learning styles.
