Information About JenniferCalgary tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Jennifer:
I'm a graduate student that recently finished school. I'm really flexible with scheduling as my schedule is very open. People usually describe me as calm and patient, and I find that I connect best with students that are more independent. I really enjoy getting to know students and providing not only schoolwork help but also general guidance about post secondary life/career.
I've been a tutor since 2014. I've worked for a couple tutoring companies in Calgary and have tutored over 10 different families. Some of these families I had been with for multiple years teaching all the siblings through high school. I find that the most rewarding because it also allows me to get to know the family really well.
I've also taught university level lab courses as a teaching assistant during my graduate degree. I've been nominated for a teaching award. These courses were usually classes of 25 or so students.
My approach to tutoring has always been catered to the individual student's needs. Everyone learns differently, and I think it's best to understand and get to know your students really well so you can provide the best methods for their unique way of learning. I generally try to explain things in simpler ways than what they might get in school, or break down concepts into simpler steps to build understanding rather than throw too much info out there at once. I usually find that high school teachers often explain concepts in an unnecessary complex way to emphasize importance, but it confuses most students. I like helping students develop skills to cut through the unnecessary language and get to the science or logic of the concept.
