Personal Description:

Hi I’m Jenna! I graduated with my Bachelor of Science majoring in Biomedical Sciences in 2018. I have a passion for teaching and really enjoy sharing my love for knowledge with others. I am fluent in French and enjoy practicing I’m my French as much as I can! I also enjoy keeping up to date on scientific topics. I also love pets, baking, and knitting ! I am hoping to tutor students online if possible, but am open to community group if proper safety precautions are taken.

Tutoring Experience:

My first experience tutoring was through a franchise and for students aged 6-18. I tutored chemistry, physics, English, and math for all ages. I then decided to start tutoring University students. I tutored subjects including chemistry, calculus, genetics, biochemistry, psychology, and statistics. I tutored courses from the first to third year level. Finally, I tutored at another franchise for about a year where I tutored French, English, math, chemistry, biology, and physics. Overall I am comfortable and have experience tutoring a huge range of subjects !

Tutoring Approach:

My approach varies based on the needs of the students. In general during my first sessions I like to start by speaking to the student what they enjoy about the subject and what they find difficult. I also like to find out do they have any sort of test schedule for the subject. I then might work through some problems and see how the student feels about them. This could lead to going over core principles on the subject or reviewing a specific problem they are struggling with. Once I get an idea of how the student works we can plan accordingly. If I am tutoring multiple subjects, at the beginning of each session I like to get an idea of is most important to work on first. If they have a test or assignment on a subject we would start with that topic. Alternatively, if they express concerns about a particular topic we can focus on that. Overall my approach depends on the needs of the student and how they will most benefit from tutoring.
