Personal Description:
Hello here! Are you looking for someone who can help with multiple subjects? Are you looking for someone to develope interest in the subject you are learning? If yes, then I can help!
After graduating from University of Toronto majoring Human Biology and Cell & System biology, I develped interest in Electrical Engineering. Out of pure curiosity, I enrolled in the Electrical Engineering degree at Ryerson University.
As I was working as a Biomedical Enginnering researcher, two things happend. First thing is that my past academic knowledge has helped me understand better a completely brand new subject. Second thing is that all subjects can eventually be linked togther. Being able to combing knowledge from differnt fields allowed me to be more creative with my work. Having a different perspective that is more familiar could accelerate the process of learning new things. My aim as a tutor is to use my existing knowledge to bring this different perspective into my sessions, to close the gap between the known and the unknown.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been tutoring for over 3 years now. I teach student from elementary school to first year university, with subjects including Math, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. I started as a teacher assistant at Reading Town with kids age 6-12, both the kids and I had lot of fun through game like interactions. Slowly I begin private tutoring session, mainly for students from grade 8 to 12. I realized the traditonal homework is very mundane, I usualy come up with many different method to help students understand the subjects with real life example. By doing so, the sutdents are intrigued to the subject and were able to increase their interest to do well. I am also tutoring some first year University courses. For university students its important to help them to save time, by coming up with good summary sheets and doing many practice questions.
Overall, depends on the age and the academic level of the students, different approaches are applied.
Tutoring Approach:
I am not only a tutor with different academic background, I am also the byproduct of both eastern and western education systems. I often find it useful to approch the content with a different method when the conventional method fails.
school teaches us a lot of thing, however, the traditional method failed to teach us why do we need to learn something, or how to learn something. Future planning, may it be picking majors in university or choosing a career path, depends on these skills. As a tutor I want to help my students not only to learn WHAT is in a course but also learn WHY it is important and HOW to master the content.
