Information About Hanna - Toronto tutor
|College / University||$50.00|
I am an enthusiastic musician and music educator with degrees in Music, Education, and am currently studying Dalcroze Eurhythmics as well as striving for excellence in voice, piano and trumpet.
I teach voice, piano, trumpet, rudiments, and theory.
I have been teaching privately for about seven years, have worked in classrooms periodically and I also have musical directing and conducting experience. I have experience teaching gifted students as well as working with girls with brain injuries, and I have also worked with a couple high functioning autistic/asperges students.
I have a track record for helping a student, and/or their parents discover their learning strengths and weaknesses and use them to their advantage.
I teach music like you would teach a language. You make sounds and you fumble your way around before you speak, and you speak before you read.
Music is also very kinesthetic so I include kinesthetic exercises - but generally my approach depends on the student.
I base my teaching off of principles like Gardiner's multiple intelligence theory, I scaffold so that students are ready for the material, and I use observation and good communication with the students or parents as to the expectations of playing at home etc.
