Information About Elisa
Toronto tutorPersonal Description:
I'm a Master of Applied Science graduate from the University of Toronto in Mechanical Engineering and also hold a Bachelor of Applied Science from UofT in Engineering Science. In Fall 2020, I'm excited to be pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at either Berkeley or MIT. I'm from Toronto and am passionate about live music, fashion, and, of course, teaching!
Tutoring Experience:
I have not tutored one-on-one before, but have experience as a teaching assistant at the University of Toronto for senior mechanical engineering students. I really enjoy working with students one-on-one and devising lessons and activities to help students learn and gain expertise in new concepts.
Tutoring Approach:
For science and math, I believe that working through example problems and practice tests is the best way to become familiar and comfortable with challenging concepts. We can work through examples shown in class or in readings together and understand the logic of the problem solving method and the underlying theory. Prior to tests or evaluations, we can similarly apply the methods taught in class to new problems. Whatever your goals are - whether you're struggling with fundamentals or hoping to excel in your class - I look forward to helping you meet them!
