Personal Description:

I am a former university instructor with extensive academic experience: I taught - for close to a decade - graduate and post-graduate courses at several Ontario universities (the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, and the Canadian Forces College). My general area of expertise is social studies, specializing in Political Science / Politics, particularly general introduction to the field, International Relations, Public Administration, and Comparative Politics / Area Studies.

In addition to teaching thousands of students and supervising teaching assistants, I have also worked with students in Ottawa as a tutor and academic coach. I am very knowledgeable of education issues and teaching strategies at both the secondary and post-secondary levels, given my past roles as educational consultant, member of board of directors for nonprofit organizations operating in the education space, and member of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board’s Special Education Advisory Committee.

Tutoring Experience:

I have provided tutoring services for a substantial amount of time, in person and virtually - in addition to my extensive academic experience, having taught at several Ontario universities for many years.

Tutoring Approach:

I place particular emphasis in my teaching and tutoring work on effective communication, clear and systematic overview of key concepts, the use of simple to understand and follow study plans, and ultimately student success. In addition to a primary focus on understanding and meeting students’ needs, I employ creative teaching techniques, and strive to maximize everyone’s academic potential. I also support students with improving research skills and academic writing, in addition to strengthening content knowledge.
