Hello! Bonjour! 你好!
My name is Cristina; Its a pleasure to have you reading my profile! I graduated UBC in 2017 with a Bachelor Degree in English Language, as well as a TESL Certificate to teach English as a Second Language for English Learners! My elementary and secondary education was in French Immersion, so I am fluent in both English and French. Not only do I excel in essay writing, I enjoy analyzing texts, prose, and stories, focusing on grammar and structure. I absolutely love language learning and have learnt some Spanish and German during my many travels. I am currently a Teacher Candidate completing my Bachelor of Education at UBC.
If I am not busy lifeguarding at the pool, I will be keeping active by hiking, reading, or finding a new activity to try!
I have many years of experience teaching children and youth!
2019 - 2020 ** Student Teacher - Elementary French Immersion (Richmond)
2019 - 2020 ** Tutor - First tutors
2018 - 2019 ** English Teacher to French-speaking Elementary Students (Quebec - ELL)
I gained experience preparing my own lesson plans and activities. Because English is their second language, I
have experience adapting my teaching material and games to all levels to help encourage their oral speaking
2011 - 2020 ** Swim Coach and Swim Instructor (Richmond)
Experience teaching all ages, even adults, the mechanisms and basics of swimming
** Important ** Due to the curent outbreak, I will be accommodating all tutoring sessions via First Tutors online teaching platform. This platform is compatible across all operating systems and allows for video call/audio, to mimic the in person session, as well as screen sharing and a virtual whiteboard! * 25% OFF FIRST INTRO SESSION * I am excited to use this innovation and hopefully make learning more engaging.
I love to teach and I am very passionate about my students success. Although I understand learning can be frustrating at times, it is important to be patient and flexible but also ready to adapt the material in a different way to make sure my students understand the concepts. Everyone learns differently, but everyone can succeed!
