This is how 37 referees rated Brent:
A physics tutor, I truly enjoy teaching and have an impressive track record of helping students. I believe the most important aspect of teaching is to form a human connection. You can then match the student's level and teach them just about anything.
I have a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Colorado Boulder as well as studied mathematics and art history. I also worked at a geophysics firm for a year, performing data analysis and programming, and then moved to China, teaching high-school and AP physics and mathematics. I'm now pursuing my master's degree in international relations at Johns Hopkins University.
I connect with the student by learning about their background. To foster independent learning, I help extensively in the beginning and show students how to answer questions on their own. I move on to something else if the student is having difficulties, and then go back later with a different approach.
