Personal Description:

I am a fifth year software engineering student at the University of Ottawa. I have been coding since the 8th grade in popular programming languages including Java, Python, C#, and JavaScript. I have already worked in both public and private sectors and have amassed a large amount of experience doing so.

One of my biggest passions is teaching, and I personally believe everyone should be able to program to some degree as the world moves towards an almost entirely autonomous workforce.

Tutoring Experience:

I have tutored Java since my second year of university and run multiple workshops on VR game development to students from ages 14-50. During my work term in Winter 2020, I mentored a high school hackathon team and provided guidance with modern programming concepts and techniques. I also used to teach snowboarding to students ages 6-8, so I have a lot of patience!

Tutoring Approach:

Building the fundamentals right from the start creates a solid base to learn and expand on. I try my hardest to teach students the foundations of programming in such a way that at any time they could branch off from the teaching and learn at their own pace with projects they are personally invested in. Every lesson contains some sort of thematic exercise for which we learn the coding techniques in order to make the lesson feel like it is contributing to a greater goal.
