Personal Description:
My name is Aurélie, I am OCT (Ontario College of Teachers) certified. French is my mother tongue and all of my schooling has been in a French language program. I have always had a passion for the French language and culture! This is evident within my lessons and activities. My love of music, travel and history allows me to bring adventure to my classrooms! My goal as a tutor is to enable students to see the benefits of learning French as a Second Language.
Tutoring Experience:
I have teaching experiences at the Elementary level and at the Secondary Level. I have been teaching Grade 9 Core French for the past 2 years.
Teaching/Practicum Experiences:
- Gr. 9 Core French
- Grade 9 Pre-International Baccalaureate French
- Grade 10 Academic/Pre-International Baccalaureate History
- Grade 7/8 Extended French Practicum
Tutoring Experience:
- Gr. 2/3 Sept 2011/2012
Tutoring Approach:
To be a tutor is to require patience and knowledge of the subject. As a French teacher, I believe that the Action-Oriented approach is an effective way of teaching French as a Second Language (FSL). Integrating topics such as tourism, cultural events, media and technology can increase student engagement and motivation in FSL. In addition, it is important that students know the basics of French grammar in order to be successful in the written and oral components of the French language. Furthermore, oral communication in French should be emphasized as I believe it is the most beneficial aspect of being proficient in a second language.
