Personal Description:

I am originally from Athens, Greece, and I have been living in Montreal, Canada for the past 12 years. I have a passion for Math and Science, which led me to study Biology at McGill University. I possess excellent communication skills, and have a passion for helping students achieve academic goals. I am fully bilingual and can work with english or french-speaking students.

Tutoring Experience:

During my University studies, I had the pleasure of working as a Teaching Assistant for an introductory Computer Science course for 3 consecutive semesters. I held office hours and tutorials to address the students' questions and provide help with assignments. In addition, I monitored the Q&A section on the course website on a daily basis and answered all questions. I received the Tomlinson Engagement Award in Mentoring as a reward for the positive impact I had on the students' learning.

Tutoring Approach:

I really enjoy tutoring because it allows me to see my students grow independent and become capable of learning on their own. In order to accomplish that, I am really flexible with my teaching methods. Some students feel overwhelmed on day 1 of the semester; as a result, I may be more likely to cover all the material, as well as help them with lab reports, and midterm/final preparation. Others might struggle with only certain topics. For those students, I present the material in a simple way, and I may use existing resources (such as practice problems from the textbook) to make sure that my student understands. Overall, I have extensive knowledge in my subject matter and combined with a kind and patient personality, it allows me to adjust my teaching style to your needs.
