Personal Description:

Hey hey hey! My name is Andy. I'm a Software Engineering student attending McMaster University. I love teaching and I believe that every student has potential to succeed. In my spare time, I dabble with instruments, bike, and recently have started watching lots of animes! I love trying new things, going on adventures and meeting new people.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been tutoring since my first year as an undergraduate. My experience is neatly summed up through my tutoring profile, which includes a breakdown of my teaching approach, the subjects I teach, and student reviews and ratings:
**Web Address Removed** I have also been a teaching assistant for 2 undergraduate courses in my program. One for data structures and algorithms in java, and another for concurrent system design in various programming languages including Python, Java, and Golang.

Tutoring Approach:

First, I make sure the student has at least a rough idea of the concept we're covering. Sometimes I do an overview of the concept with definitions and general formulas/ important tools, diagrams, stories, or examples to illustrate the concept.

Second, I like to cover practice problems with students, and let the student try certain problems on their own before proceeding to the solution. Practice testing as been scientifically proven through repeated studies to be the most effective studying and learning strategy, at least in academic settings. For that reason, I place a lot of emphasis on this particular stage of the tutoring session.
