Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Aelwynn and I'm from Canada. I've been tutoring and teaching for 5 years. I have experience teaching children, high school students looking to get into university and university students taking various subjects. Sign up for a lesson and we can talk about what you would like to learn and how you can reach your goals.

Studying a new language and taking courses in school is exciting! There are always new topics and themes to explore. I am personally committed to life long learning. I have learned so much from my students and surroundings. My home is in Noelville, Canada, but I have lived in Australia, United States and travelled to many other countries so I have a diverse background to draw from when teaching.

Tutoring Experience:

As mentioned I've been tutoring and teaching for 6 years. I have experience teaching children in grade two and three class, I have taught one-on-one with high school students looking to get into university. I have also taught countless university students film classes, tv studio classes, religion, politics as well as photography labs courses.

I have a double major in Visual Arts & Communication, Media and Film at the University of Windsor as well as a Masters in Media Production from the University of Ryerson in Toronto. I have also worked for several years in business in both Canada and Australia.

In addition to tutoring, I also have the valuable experience of being a recent online language student. As I've studied French, although very new to this, I have gained first-hand knowledge of being a learner! Seeing both the teacher and student perspectives has broadened my point of view and given me an understanding I would not otherwise have. I'm very empathetic with my students because I know how difficult it can be to communicate in another language.

Tutoring Approach:

My objective is to advance your learning, and to do so, we will work as a team. To begin, you will let me know your goals, then I'll personalize your lessons. Are you studying for school or work? Do you want to work on your conversational English? Do you need help writing essays? Whatever the case, I will customize lesson according to your needs.

No matter what your goal, we will make the lessons fun and enjoyable. You will move closer to achieving your objectives.

My approach to teaching English is to incorporate the four basic language skills - speaking, writing, listening, and reading - into every lesson. By using these skills simultaneously, a learner can acquire both the productive and comprehensive skills to speak a language fluently. We will identify your existing strengths and fortify the other areas so that you will become a well-rounded English speaker. I will personalize your lessons and we will work as a team to meet your objectives.

My belief is that learning a language should be enjoyable. Gaining new skills and being able to communicate is a marvelous thing! I will try to make your classes fun and interesting. When you are comfortable, the environment is ideal for learning. One-on-one lessons should be fun and enjoyable.
