Information About Adam
This is how 2 referees rated Adam:
Hello! I'm Adam. My goal is to help you develop a keen understanding in the fundamentals of math and science to approach any problem you encounter with confidence. I studied civil engineering at UBC and after working for a few years in consulting, I completed my Masters in 2020.
Adam is currently a teacher and education assistant.
Adam has been teaching and tutoring since 2005.
As a high school student, Adam volunteered in China teaching English to Chinese students in English summer school.
As a university student he has worked for UBC's Academic Resource Center tutoring first and second year science and engineering courses.
As a graduate student he has worked as a teaching assistant, teaching tutorials and labs to 3rd and 4th year level engineering classes.
The core of my approach is to help students learn the subjects through a deep understanding of the concepts and fundamentals. In my own experience as a student, once we understand a topic from its core and at a deep level, we will be able to approach any problem presented (even if we haven't seen it before). You will retain your knowledge easily and you will greatly reduce the need for memorization.
Your success is extremely important to me. Helping you reach your goals is my objective and the reason I choose this work. We will stay connected throughout the week. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions on homework. If it is something we can cover over the phone, we will. If the question is longer and more in-depth, I will make sure to prepare materials for you on our next session.
Let me know what test, assignment or quiz you have approaching. Prior to the session I will prepare materials specifically for the topics and questions you are working on. This may include additional practice questions, note packages or study guides. This is my approach and what I find is that it is very beneficial for students to have the ongoing support between tutoring sessions.
I tailor my approach to each students. Everyone has different learning styles, some learn better with visual examples, other learn better with step-by-step approaches. No two students are alike, and I will be adjusting the tutor sessions to best fir your style.
I also aim to bring real-world examples from my experience into the classroom whenever I can. I have had many cool jobs in my career related to math and sciences. I have worked as an analyst in a chemistry lab, an engineer and also a researcher. I strive to incorporate as many real-life examples and applications as possible into math and science.
