Personal Description:

I am a junior high/high school English teacher living in Edmonton, Alberta. I have experience teaching English from grades 7-12, and have taught in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and Alberta. I also have tutoring experience, both at the secondary level and at the university level. I have an English degree and an Education degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, as well as a Masters degree in education from the University of Ottawa. My research focus for my MEd was various methods of teaching and learning, and how they can be personalized for each student. I believe all students should have access to extra help outside of the classroom to help them grow and excel. I love being able to see the change in students when they finally understand a concept! My specialities are reading, writing, essay editing/proofreading, and literature.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a certified teacher with experience teaching in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and currently in Alberta. I have taught 7-12 English Language Arts, as well as other courses such as Healthy Living and Social Studies. I worked as a tutor in Nova Scotia outside of my classroom teaching, and currently tutor secondary and university students in Edmonton, AB.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that every student can succeed if given the proper tools and support. Not every teaching method works for every student, so it is important for a teacher or tutor to get to know their student. They can then use that knowledge to determine the best way to approach the lesson, making it relevant and more enjoyable.
