Personal Description:

Hello, my name is Tara, and I’ve had the privilege of supporting students since founding my tuition business in 2019. I take great joy in helping students develop the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to reach their full potential.

As a highly organised, dedicated and patient tutor, I bring a friendly and approachable style that allows me to establish strong learning relationships. I hold a Degree in Business and Psychology (Distinction average, Monash University) and draw on more than ten years of professional experience across Government, Education and the not-for-profit sector.

I truly love my work—it’s deeply rewarding to guide students, whether they are overcoming challenges or striving to maintain excellent results.

Tuition Experience:

With over six years of dedicated tutoring experience, I support students at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. My areas of expertise include:

Upper Primary (Years 5 – 6) Literacy and English: writing skills, spelling, grammar, punctuation, fluency, comprehension, and exam preparation.

Secondary School English (Years 7–12, including VCE): essay writing, creative writing, oral presentations, text analysis, argument analysis and exam preparation.

I have experience with texts such as Born a Crime, Sunset Boulevard, High Ground, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Oedipus the King, Jane Eyre, Requiem for a Beast, We Have Always Lived in the Castle and many more.

VCE Subjects: English (importantly, the new study design), Psychology, Human Health and Development.

University (Psychology, Social Sciences): Research proposals, essays, Gantt charts, revision strategies and academic skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I hold an initial interview with the parent/s and student to understand expectations and identify areas of concern. I then create an individualised learning plan that targets specific skills gaps, builds confidence and supports overall academic growth.

To keep sessions engaging and effective, I draw on a wide range of educational resources. For younger students, I break the session up into multiple segments. I also provide regular feedback to parents as needed.

All sessions are conducted online and I hold a current Working with Children Check.

I also offer a free 15‑minute introductory session, giving students the opportunity to experience my teaching style and the resources I provide. Ongoing tuition is $85 per hour, with sessions tailored to each student’s needs and typically running for 1 hour.
