Personal Description:

I've served as a full-time college educator for more than 15 years. I'm passionate about English. Literature and Critical Literacy and over the years, have honed my pedagogical skills in developing and implementing effective strategies in helping students read and write critically. I've been nominated for the President's Teaching Award (Singapore) and was nominated and a finalist for the Most Inspiring English Teacher Award. I'm a mother of three, currently juggling family and teaching. In my free time, I enjoy reading, going to the theatre, going for walks in the park or just having cake and coffee with loved ones.

Tuition Experience:

I've been teaching college-level English Language/Literature and Philosophy for more than 15 years and have held on the post of Senior Education Officer (SEO). As an SEO, my job was to lead the college in pedagogical research and innovation. I was also heavily involved in mentoring beginning teachers. I've run workshops and seminars for fellow educators and also presented at national and international conferences on the teaching of English Literature as well as on the use of ICT in classroom pedagogy. I am also currently working as a Teaching Associate at a university (Faculty of Education) here in Melbourne where I'm teaching undergraduate (pre-service teachers) and Masters in Education courses.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching philosophy is simple - to design and implement effective lessons using sound pedagogical strategies that will equip students with the skills required for critical reading and writing, while also helping students develop a love for the English language. My objective is to provide practical guidance and frameworks that will help students see tangible improvements in their work. However, I also believe in inspiring students to take delight in reading, word play, creative expression, stories and critical analyses as these are equally essential to achieving an overall success in language mastery.
