I graduated with straight A's and two La Trobe Awards for University Leadership and Community Engagement. I have also been a committee member for Horizon house and a Crisis Support Telephone Counsellor for Lifeline.

• Under the supervision of two mentors whilst at Highview, I was fortunate to be involved in a number of extra-curricular activities inclusive of; a field trip to Torquay, the school sports day, Parent-Teacher Interviews, whole staff and faculty meetings, a Professional Development seminar, yard duty, cool-off (detention) duty, and church assembly.
Highview Christian Community College is an independent school catering to approximately 500 students in years 7-12 from the Maryborough and surrounding regional communities. Highview College aims to instil students with fundamental Christian values; honesty, responsibility, integrity and compassion. Students are taught to value and understand Christian faith and spirituality whilst at the same time fostering academic achievement and creativity during class time. Highview College allows for smaller class sizes, particularly at VCE level, allowing for a more personalised approach to teaching and learning.
I like to get to know the student first, find out how he/she learns, what mediums they respond best to first (ir: visual, kinaesthetic, auditory). It is important to find out what areas that they feel that they are struggling with and what they would like to achieve through the tutoring session/s.
I would also like to enquire about the subject history, what they have learnt already in the classroom, how they responded to the content and if they feel that they were able to grasp the contents of the tasks.
I would like to run the session in four parts; revision, new content/task, activity/set task, summary.
It is important that students set clear goals and are able to self-assess themselves against these benchmarks. This way the student can feel confident that they are achieving their best potential, as reflected in their progress and understanding.
