Information about Lorna - Manly tutor - (6 reviews)
This is how 2 referees rated Lorna:
I am a qualified science teacher working at a secondary school, teaching biology, physics and chemistry. I attended a grammar school and went on to achieve a 2:1 in Neuroscience from the University of Bristol. I have 4 A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, English Literature and Philosophy and Ethics.
I have been a science teacher since 2014, working with students ranging from 11 years old to 18 years old. Through this I have taught all 3 sciences and BTEC courses in Applied Science. As well as teaching science at secondary level, I am also a qualified swimming instructor, with over 5 years experience in coaching both large groups of swimmers and private one-on-one teaching, with students ranging from 2 years old to 40 years old. I have also volunteered at various primary school science fairs and completed a Community Sports Leadership Award where I coached younger students in the community.
I believe that every child has the power to be successful in whatever they need to do as long as they have the confidence to pursue it. For this I believe a tutor needs to be patient and tailor their sessions to be personalised for that particular student to enable them to become confident in a subject in the way that best suits their learning style. As a teacher myself, I understand that many students work best through a one-to-one approach, yet this isn't always possible to achieve in a busy classroom environment.
