Hi, I'm Laura. I'm currently a (fully-vaccinated) Primary CRT working across Melbourne and I love to do tutoring after the school day. I've lived in Melbourne for 6 years now, having moved from the UK. I'm really enjoying Melbourne and especially like being able to wander about outside in the sunshine. I love keeping fit and also enjoy cooking and reading. I have been a teacher in some form or other since I graduated from university in 2011 and love the job. I offer reading & writing tuition to primary students, English tuition to secondary students and General English/IELTS tuition to speakers of other languages (any age).
As a CRT, I have taught all age ranges from Prep-Year 6 in numerous schools across Melbourne. Naturally, some of the students have been gifted, working at a high level, and others have found their work more challenging. Others again have been somewhere in the middle in terms of ability. Finding something that helps each student is what I like to do best.
Prior to my current role, I taught General English to adults. In this role, I taught Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate and Upper Intermediate General English. My classes have ranged from consisting of only five students to over twenty.
Before this, I taught English in an English mainstream high school for four years, teaching 11-18 year olds English Language and English Literature. I prepared four classes for their exams, two at GCSE level and two at AS/A-level.
As for tutoring, I have provided one-to-one tuition for over forty tutees. Some of these have been young school children (aged 6-11) needing help with literacy or NAPLAN preparation; some have been older school/college students needing help with their VCEs and some have been adult learners. With my ESL tutees, I have helped with preparation for both General and Academic IELTS.
Online, I have taught using Zoom, Webex, Google Meet, Google Classroom and Skype.
I offer online tuition and am also happy to travel to tutees' homes within a reasonable distance. Material is provided by me unless tutees have specific tasks requiring attention. Sessions are tailored to tutees' individual needs and I aim to make all sessions as engaging as possible.
As well as tutoring, I am happy to help with proofreading assignments.

she appears firm , but kind and understands what I require . Her task was made more difficult by my child being unusually hyper - i am not sure what caused this - it may be because there was no school yesterday and he was in a more playful mood . Next week will be more representative of his behaviour .
- Provide good learning materials
- Able to recognise her student's weakness and work on them
- Provide flexible teaching hours
- Supper helpful
Just wanted to send you some feedback. We are very happy with the tutoring you are providing to Jessie. It is great to see Jessie responding to you so well. She is enjoying her sessions and I think the results will speak for themselves.
