Personal Description:

I am 35 years old with two young children and am currently on maternity leave with my second child. I am from the UK originally and have lived in Melbourne for almost 7 years. Before having children I had a real passion for travelling and have experienced many different cultures, having also lived in the Middle East prior to Australia. I am a friendly and hard working individual. I am looking for some evening and weekend tuition in order to continue my passion for teaching.

Tuition Experience:

I have 5 years teaching experience, 4 years teaching in Abu Dhabi as a grade 1 and 2 classroom teacher. I tutored a number of children out of school hours. I also taught for a year in Melbourne as a CRT teacher. My most recent position has been working as an Integration Aide in a Primary school, which I will continue once I have finished my maternity leave. In this position I have been working mostly with Autistic children and running literacy programs for the preps and Grade 1s.

Tutoring Approach:

The most important first step for me when tutoring is building a relationship with the child and gaining their trust. This will then help to build their confidence and self esteem in the particular area which they may be struggling in. I particularly enjoy tutoring as it really provides the opportunity to focus solely on an individual child and being able to work at their own pace. I like to make my lessons as fun and varied as possible. It is important to learn and have fun at the same time.
