Information about Jenna - Cairns tutor

Personal Description:

I am a secondary educator based in Cairns with a strong background in creative and academic learning. I enjoy working one-on-one with students and families, and value calm, respectful learning environments where students feel safe to ask questions and take their time.

Alongside classroom teaching, I tutor privately to support students who benefit from individual attention, flexible pacing, and a more personalised approach to learning. I work with upper primary and secondary students across literacy, humanities and creative subjects, and enjoy helping learners build confidence as well as skills.

Tuition Experience:

I have worked in education for over 15 years, including roles as a teaching assistant, teacher aide, and private music tutor (guitar and vocals) from 2012 to 2016, supporting beginner learners in one-on-one and small-group settings.

I am a registered secondary teacher, currently teaching Media Arts, Visual Arts and Humanities in secondary school settings. In addition to classroom teaching, I provide private tutoring across literacy and arts-based subjects, supporting students both online and in person.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring approach is student-centred, supportive and structured, with sessions tailored to each learner’s needs, strengths and goals. Lessons are flexible but purposeful, and may focus on skill-building, assessment preparation, study strategies, or targeted support with specific tasks.

Sessions typically include:

a brief check-in and goal-setting

focused learning or task support

time for questions, reflection and consolidation

I tutor upper primary through to senior secondary students, depending on subject area and individual needs. Where helpful, I provide tailored notes, scaffolds or recommended practice between sessions.

Tutoring is available online Australia-wide, or in person from my shop premises in the Cairns CBD. This is a public, safe and accessible location in the heart of town, and not a private residence.

Sessions are currently offered at an introductory rate of $65 per hour, with shorter or longer session lengths available upon request.
