Hi! My name is Helena , I am a French native speaker and I am currently doing a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Software Major and Bachelor of Business in University of Technology, Sydney. I am a patient, understanding, communicative and friendly person and I love sharing knowledge with others. I have some tutoring experiences and it is always a pleasure for me to assist and work with my students.
I am also known to be very conscientious, committed and passionate; thus, I am willing to provide any learning material (notes, exercises sheets, quizzes) useful for my students and to motivate them to do their best to achieve their goals.
I had some tutoring experience in New Caledonia (my home country), where I assist a group of students in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. I was responsible for preparing the weekly worksheet, organising the lesson structure, assisting the students with their difficulties and answering questions.
Furthermore, in Sydney, I had some in-home tutoring experiences when I was teaching French to a year-7 girl for one month and a half and English to a year-4 girl for 2 months. I also had some tutoring experience in primary schools (Stanmore, St Patrick's and Ferncourt primary school), where I was teaching French for a group of children for 5 month. These experiences include: preparing lessons and providing learning support (worksheets, notes).
In my past and current tuitions, I always prioritise my students' needs and goals. Therefore, I always make sure that the lesson structure and the materials provided suit my students and enable them to successfully achieve high results.
At the first lesson, I ask questions and encourage the student to ask me some in order to know each other a bit more, which in turn will enable us to work in a studious and friendly atmosphere. This will allow me to understand why the student has difficulties in the subject and to analyse which learning method will be the most useful.
The typical structure of my tuition is: I start by reviewing the materials of the previous lesson, then I work with the student on the new lesson by assisting them with any misunderstanding and encouraging them to ask me questions. Afterwards, I test the student’s understanding by providing them a worksheet (prepared by me before the lesson) and make them work on it with my help. Finally, I check whether the lesson has been well understood or not and, if the student would like to prepare in advance for the next tuition, I give them some homework.
