This is how 2 referees rated Francisco Jesús:
I am an A Level Chemistry examiner and sixth form college teacher based in the UK. I specialise in International GCSE, A Level and IB.
I have a PhD in Biochemistry (Distinction) and Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Distinction).
On a personal note, I was born in a small city from Southern Spain called Jaen, it is renowned for its olive oil production. My parents are Josefa and Juan and I am the third of four brothers. I have been living in England since 2009, where I got married and have two daughters. My current interests are cooking, meditation and reading.
My calling for tutoring probably developed in school helping other classmates after lessons.
I have been an A Level Chemistry and GCSE Science classroom teacher since 2011. My resources and worksheets range from introduction of topics to activities that challenge students to the A* grade in A Level or a 9 in GCSE. I am aware of typical problem areas where students struggle as well as common misconceptions, and I tackle them in ways that students feel comfortable with.
My experience as an examiner enables me to guide students on how to maximise their performance in exams. I work with my students through mark schemes, helping them to interpret them, and revise independently. I emphasise the need for accurate terminology in explanations and clear working out of calculations. Also, I help students understand the structure of standard exam questions as well as approaches to unfamiliar ones.
I have worked as a private tutor since 2009. From First Tutors I have had more than a hundred tutees. I believe I have covered all standard exam boards (OCR, AQA and Edexcel), as well as IGCSE and International A Level (Edexcel), International Baccalaureate and Cambridge Pre-U.
You may want to see my First Tutors UK profile where many of my tutees have left feedback on me
Firstly, I aim to know my students in terms of their strengths, points for improvement, subject interests, etc. I aim to obtain some of this information prior to the first lesson.
I provide students with plenty of practice questions and answer sheets for them to develop their independent skills and work at their own individual pace. In lessons, we use this independent work as a starting point, to focus on areas where students need help with or where their knowledge could be stretched even further. This makes lessons focussed and productive. With guidance, students usually manage to cover the syllabus quite early in the year which gives us time to review topics and fill in gaps in knowledge before the exams period.
I am keen on developing student’s academic skills, but equally I help them improve their attitudes towards learning, e.g. helping them to accept whichever mistake they may make and learn from it, encouraging them to do their best rather than working towards a target grade, improve their revision skills, etc.
To sum up, I see myself as an approachable tutor, who sets high expectations for his students and aims to help them nurture and enjoy their academic development.

Thank you so much Fran!!
He is a very patient and dedicated tutor.
Definitely someone you can rely on!
My son is looking forward for his next lesson with Fran
Francisco always provided question banks and video links to every topic I studied so that I could revise effectively.
He is an excellent tutor and teaches all Chemistry topics very thoroughly.
I would not hesitate in recommending Franscisco as a tutor for A-Level Chemistry.
At the end of AS I scrapped a B and found Chemistry impossible, now I have achieved an A* in my Chemistry A-Levels and these tutoring sessions played a big part in my achieving this, which I am very grateful for.
I have already recommended him to friends and absolutely recommend him as a tutor.
He was able to motivate my son to study more and to have more enthusiasm for Maths. His lessons are very clear to understand and he is very professional.
We look forward to continuing with this Tutor.
To add, my son received an A/B in double award science at GCSE, with his highest mark in Chemistry, which I am sure is in large part due to the work he did with Francisco. As a result he is now doing Chemistry at A level.
Daniel, AS chemistry student.
We would 100 % use his services again when we need them for either Hannah or Daniel our son.
