Personal Description:

I am an experienced classroom teacher and tutor of Latin and Classical Studies. I have a wide variety of experience teaching these subjects and it is a true passion of mine. I am currently working as a stay at home mum to three pre-schoolers in addition to pursuing work as a private tutor.

Tuition Experience:

3 years Classical Studies tutor at Otago University, NZ
3 years classroom teaching: Latin, Classics, History and English (senior secondary)
5 years private tutoring of senior secondary students: Latin and Classics
2 years cross marking senior Classical Studies exams
1 year facilitating extra-curricular Latin programme at a secondary school
1 year running a Latin class for primary school students aged 3 -7 years

Tutoring Approach:

I will work with each tutee to develop a tutoring plan that is suitable and gets the best results. While we can spend some time working on homework, I do not see this as the primary purpose of my tutorials. Once I have gauged the ability of a student, I set work to support that which is being done in class and to lift or extend each student's performance. I expect students to come to the table in this relationship; tutoring is not a magic solution that just requires a student to turn up and listen, rather it is a joint effort between tutor and tutee.
