Personal Description:
I Have a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Double Major in English Literature, a Double Major in South East Asian Political Science and a Major in Anthropology. (Charles Darwin University 1996).
I completed a Diploma in Conservation and Land Management to improve my knowledge in climate change, conservation and environmental protection.
I am an experienced local tutor of 12 years in the subject areas of English, Humanities and Social Sciences/SOCE from primary school through to third year university level.
I have experience with students from all ages and walks of life through all school levels from TAFE, VET in Schools and University level in the Greater Darwin Area.
I provide an online tuition service via ZOOM.
Tuition Experience:
I have 12 years experience as a private and professional tutor of children, teenagers, young adults and adults.
I tutor undergraduate University, Secondary and Primary students in Literacy and English, History, Politics, Anthropology, Society and Culture (SOCE) and Nature Conservation Studies (Environmental studies).
I tutor adults in Language,Literacy and Numeracy for sucess in resume-writing skills for job entry or to go onto further study.
Here are some areas in which I provide Academic Coaching to improve student's marks:
Exam Preparation & Composition Skills; Assignment, Essay & Report Writing Skills; Time Management; Note -taking; school syllabus use; Homework Sessions.
I also provide Study Skills sessions for Improved Learning and Literacy in Reading and Writing.
I have private tutoring experience at the following levels:
Primary - Years 5-6, Middle - Years 7-10; (Bakewell, Driver, Moulden, Sacred Heart, Parap and Nakara Primary Schools)
Senior School - Years 11 - 12; (Darwin High School; Kormilda College; Rosebery Middle School)

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is a strengths based approach, this means my primary goal is to listen and work with each student or client to assist them at their speed to become confident, lifelong learners with a sense of purpose.
The benefit of using the services of a private tutor is that a specific subject or skill is taught to the student at their own pace often in a one to one setting and this additional academic support ideally allows the student to improve their knowledge or skills more rapidly than in a classroom setting.
I am happy to work with the student's school to develop a smooth learning experience for each student.

I enjoy tutoring your son in this on-line setting - he has good engagement with his schoolwork and adapts to tuition pointers quickly.
Year 7 is often a tricky transition year so it's a good idea to employ a tutor to support students during this time.
