Information about Kaveesha - Montmorency tutor

Personal Description:

Hi, I am Kaveesha. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with everyone and especially teaching children.

I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Community and Critical Psychology from York St John University, UK. I possess an honours degree in Statistics with Computer Science. I studied Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science for my bachelor's degree. I gained an A (Distinction) for Mathematics under GCE Advanced Level Examination.

Upon earning my BSc degree in 2009 I worked in a USA based strategic consulting firm as a Statistical Data Analyst. As I have enjoyed community work I changed my career and became Head of Research in a non-governmental organisation in 2011.

I am currently rendering my service to the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, Victoria.

Tuition Experience:

I was the Visiting Lecturer in Marketing Research for Third Year Undergrads at University of Colombo, Sri Lanka from Nov 2011 to Sep 2016. I have experience in tutoring Maths for primary, high school and college students in Sri Lanka, England and Australia. In addition, I have tutored Statistics to an undergraduate of University of York, UK while I was following my Postgraduate Diploma. I got this opportunity from First Tutor UK.

Tutoring Approach:

I place my confidence in the student every single time I start tutoring them. I believe it's important to boost their confidence when it comes to a subject like Mathematics where maths have always been considered as a difficult subject. I have the patience in the world to explain the same theory or logic or whatever it is until the student understands it perfectly. And I do not move on to a new section unless the student has fully understood the current lesson.
Mathematics is a subject where there could be many ways to tackle a problem, so I like to encourage students to see all the possibilities and then select the best approach to solve it.
It is also Important to work on additional sums simply because it will increase your efficiency because in examinations you need to manage time.
To be very honest I might be quite pushy with homework related to mathematics.
