Personal Description:

I am a professional editor and creative fiction writer. I find great joy in storytelling and helping aspiring writers to develop and hone their writing skills. In April 2018, I started an online creative writing group for writers of all abilities and genres, as a way to connect with other writers and remove some of the isolation and solitude of being a writer.

I spend my spare time ballroom dancing and writing fantasy fiction with my husband who shares these passions. I love books and films, particularly in fantasy fiction, sci-fi and crime fiction genres.

Tuition Experience:

I specialise in Creative Writing and Writing Development for aspiring fiction writers.

I have been tutoring English since 2012, editing fiction professionally since 2016 and writing fiction since the age of 9. I was a study mentor for two years at La Trobe University and assisted with the English as a Second Language program at Chisholm College, La Trobe University.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to editing and tutoring are very similar. I like to be a gentle guiding hand and treat each negative with a positive outlook, eg. incorrect sentence structure - 'how could we improve this' NOT 'this is wrong'.

During sessions I cover various aspects of writing such as writing techniques, story elements, plotting, brainstorming and worldbuilding. But it is not just able learning each of these elements, it also about helping writers to use these elements to complete their manuscript.
