Information About Zoe

Personal Description: I am a friendly and creative teacher who delivers productive lessons which are designed to enable the tutee to enjoy the subject as well as to make tangible progress in it. I have excellent qualifications, including a teaching qualification and a degree with honours from a good university and have broad experience gained in schools, universities and as a private tutor. Being a younger teacher enables me to relate well to younger tutees and to develop a great rapport with them. As a fairly recent graduate I am also able to offer first hand experience of the current exam system. I am a patient, reliable and approachable teacher with a great deal of enthusiasm for what I do. I also have extensive experience in working with adult learners and with those for whom English is not their first language.

Tutoring Experience: I have been teaching English as a foreign language for 4 years and am fully CELTA qualified. I have experience in teaching adults and children both on a one to one basis and in classes. My specialism is teaching English as a foreign language and I have extensive experience in teaching English courses at all levels, from beginner to advanced, in teaching business English and in exam preparation for Cambridge exams and IELTS.
I also have experience in providing literacy support and dyslexia support for school-aged children and in working with children with special educational needs. I have experience in teaching English and English language, History and Politics and have extensive experience in tutoring GSCE and A Level students in these subjects.

Tutoring Approach: I am an enthusiastic teacher who uses an innovative and creative approach to teaching. It is very important to me that I demonstrate to all my tutees, regardless of age or level, why they should feel passionate about the subject they are studying. Once a tutee is interested in lessons, I find that in the majority of the cases, they make excellent progress. Having worked as a tutor for nearly two years, I have witnessed how all too often it is simply one or two key concepts or subject areas which create problems for tutees and lead them to feel negative about the whole subject. Once these 'sticking points' are identified and addressed the tutee will often be amazed how confident they actually feel in the subject. Because of this I have developed a method of adapting my approach and methodology so that it fits each tutee individually, in terms of ability, character, goals and specific difficulties with the subject. I am extremely patient and enjoy the challenge of devising new ways in which to present the same material in fun and interesting ways, until tutees come to grips with whatever was holding them back.

From Paul (5/5): (A-Level History) Zoe is a very enthusiastic teacher who really knows her subject. She tutored me in twentieth century Russia and twentieth centry Germany at A level and helped with both my knowledge and essay technique. Considering the vastness of the time period I had to study, Zoe heled me break down the course into things I needed to know so I could apply that to an essay, and I was much more confident going into my exam. I really enjoyed her lessons which were engaging and interesting, and could felt myslef progressing. I found her passion for her subject rubbed off on me as I myself becoming more interested in the subject.
