Our daughter had fallen behind on her subjects due to health issues, she needed help regaining her confidence in her Y13 subjects (Biology and Chemistry) - we are very fortunate to have discovered Zara on FirstTutors. Zara has been a big boon for my DD. Zara knows how to make it easy to study, changes the perspective of study as a daunting and difficult task into something to look forward to… when a particular topic appears to be difficult, Zara has a vast repertoire of examples and different ways of explaining the concept/topic, that keeps the pupil's interest alive. Kudos to you for having developed such a fantastic approach towards coaching/tutoring that the pupils are attracted to the subject!Thank you for the effort you take. I have exchanged emails with Dr Zara using this website, and she has accepted my son as a tutee. We have paid fee required to obtain her contact details (£20). We have then booked place suitable (as she do not tutor boys at her home), day and time and we met for first lesson. My son was happy with the lesson and we have agreed to carry on every week. 2 days after she emailed me that she is unable to continue as is not convenient for her any more. I feel disappointed as wasted £20 for the fee and £30 for 1 off lesson with no follow up.Hi Anna,
In response to your comments:
- on an email dates **Telephone Number Removed** I clearly stated "I am happy to accept you as a tutee & try a lesson this Wednesday as long as you are aware that I might not be able to continue if the timings don't work for me - I don't want you to feel that you have had to pay the fee to release contact details, without being aware of this."
- I asked you for the exam board twice, but you failed to get back to me about it, before purchasing my details
- I initially offered you the tutoring slot at my home because I thought it was for you - you didn't make it clear it was for your son till we had agreed to a time. I have to be careful about the people allowed into the house.
- you expected me to travel to your workplace to tutor your son. In my communications, and in my emails after the contact details were exchanged, I made it very clear that I would try one tutoring session, so see if the times and travel worked for me.
- I came to the tutoring session on time (inspite of problems with buses, and it raining very heavily), and I tutored your son for an hour as agreed. Your son himself told me that he found the session useful. I gave you tips on how to improve results for next year, without charging for the extra time.
- You said you were unsure of being able to continue weekly lessons, and I explained why bi-weekly lessons would not work for me.
- I tried to accommodate you as much as possible, but the timings just did not work for me, given that it was rush hour with a lot of traffic.
- you were aware of the situation, and the fact that I might not find it feasible to continue with lessons, given the time constraints. I have email correspondence to prove this.
- I think I have been fair to you & delivered the one hour of tuition required, and not charged you anything extra for travel & time (which took me 45 min + travel costs)

We were so pleased to find Zara 6 months before Hannah's A Level Biology and Chemistry exams. Hannah's confidence grew with every tutoring session. Zara is very professional and thorough in her approach. She explains everything really well and ensures it's clear and understood before moving on. Zara is up to date with current research and studies which enhanced Hannah's essay type questions. I'm sure some of her methods, especially mind maps, helped Hannah in other subjects also. Hannah is now studying Bio-Medical science in university. We are very pleased to have Zara tutoring our youngest daughter this year as she prepares for her AS Biology. Zara is an excellent tutor, she is reliable, well prepared and very knowledgable on different exam boards and her subject. My daughter is shy about asking questions but finds it easy to ask Zara who explains well with the use of lots of diagrams. Joe only had only one session with Zara due to lack of time but I think she has a professional approach and knew what Joe needed as far as exam technique and his particular needs were. Joe is quite discerning re tutors and felt Zara was well informed about the exam requirements and would recommend her as a tutor.
