My name is Dr Shambhu N Vaidya. I have earned two master’s degrees, MEd (Nepal), MA (UK) and PhD (Denmark). I love maths and love everyone who likes maths. So, maths has always been my favourite subject and chose the career related to the subject. I have gained experience of teaching maths through school to university levels in the UK. I can proudly mention here that I am quite competent in maths and more importantly confident enough in delivering the lesson on any maths topic to any level effectively. No matter where one stands before the lesson my students will experience a significant boost in their confidence. They will develop a kind of ‘can do attitude’ the result of which can be noticed in just couple of weeks’ time. I have got enough evidence in support of my claim that most of my students, more than 80%, have succeeded with the highest grades possible, A/A* in their formal exams. I do offer to teach the following specific subjects in maths to the following levels across all board or examinations:
1. GCSE and IGCSE Maths (Foundation and Higher – EDEXCEL, AQA, OCR)
2. A level Maths (Pure maths, Statistics and Further Maths) and IB (Higher and Standard)
3. Foundation degree (Engineering Maths, Business Maths, Calculus)
4. Degree (Advanced Calculus, Algebra, Quantitative Techniques, Statistical Analysis)

I have got more than 15 years of teaching maths from KS4 to A level and degrees in the UK. I have spent 40+ years in education sector.

Tutoring Approach

I am fully aware of students’ difficulties and their common pattern of errors. Moreover, I know why they make such errors so I can easily help them remedy such errors. I have got special methods to deal with students’ difficulties in maths. My students develop their ‘mathematical way of thinking’ instead of just learning the topic being taught. Generally, I employ an ‘inductive approach’ while teaching so that they can generalise the formula for themselves instead of memorising them. My students enjoy learning maths which is more important.
No matter where you currently stand I have every confidence that I can make you pass with A/A* grade. 90% of my students have passed their exams (GCSE and AS/A2 level) with Minimum of B grade. and more than 50% have secured A or A*. My students develop mathematical 'way of thinking' rather than just learning the maths. I employ inductive and guided discovery approach of teahcing maths shere students themeselves generalise the mathematical rules.
