Maths Tuition in Goodwick

I have a Maths degree and am really enthusiastic about Maths. I love to help anyone who feels they are struggling in Maths or would like a bit of extra help to improve their grades to get into College or to get a job. I have 2 children, one of whom has recently done her Numeracy GCSE and Maths GCSE. I am up to date with the Maths GCSE curriculum.

Tutoring Experience

I have just completed my first term on a Secondary Maths PGCE to become a Secondary school Maths teacher and I have really enjoyed teaching the pupils. It is such a pleasure when the children understand a concept they were previously struggling with. It is so interesting to learn about the different approaches to teaching and learning. I have tutored a child for her Numeracy GCSE and her Maths GCSE.

Tutoring Approach

I really enjoy teaching and love helping people achieve their full potential. I am very passionate about Maths and convey that interest to really get my tutee involved with the topic and get them to start understanding it, rather than just the rules that go with it. It is important that the pupils understand why we calculate things in a certain way rather than trying to remember just the rules. This will help them in the long term. It is also important that pupils show all their workings as this will give them points which all count. It takes no time at all to note down workings but they are so important. Children often forget to go over the questions once complete to check their answers but also to make sure that the answer makes sense, ie. is not an unrealistic or obvious wrong answer. There are so many misconceptions in Maths and as a teacher I need to be aware of them as quite often pupils make similar mistakes to each other.
