Personal Description: I am a Maths graduate with a varied professional background as an actuary. During the course of a long career I have acted as coach and trainer to staff reporting to me.

I have also tutored my three children in Maths, all of whom are now Maths graduates.

I have a patient nature and I encourage students to see a Maths problem from several different angles and to ask questions.

Tutoring Experience: Having retired from professional work, I have been tutoring since February, 2009.

I have also gained experience of tutoring LAC students.

Tutoring Approach: I explain mathematical concepts to students using terminology they feel comfortable with. This helps develop students' understanding by clarifying the principles underlying mathematical rules and formulae

Qualifications:

• B.Sc (Honours) in Mathematics; Associate of the Institute of Actuaries
