Personal Description: I am a Law Graduate from the University of Central Lancashire having completed by LLB Law degree in 2006. I gained a 2.2 in my Law degree, this was followed by my completing the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the College of Law Chester. I am currently employed as a Legal Assistant at Michael W Halsall Solicitors in Newton-le-Willows dealing mainly with Personal Injury and RTA. On a personal level although I am currently aiming to qualify and practice as a solicitor, I have also hope to eventually take the Bar Professional Training Course and become a barrister once I have built up my reputation as a solicitor.
Tutoring Experience: During my time at university during both my undergraduate and postgraduate study I was a mentor to younger students studying law. This involved discussing any problems they may have, which mainly related to study issues and the correct approach to study. My Undergraduate Postgraduate and LPC was all based on problem based learning, this means small groups of students discussing problems and questions with supervision, this has allowed me to become very confident in dealing with groups of people and legal discussion and I believe this would be greatly beneficial in tutoring.
Outside of the legal area I am also a fully qualified swimming instructor, and have enjoyed teaching young children as well as mature adults to swim whilst I studied for my career in law. This role also allowed me to undertake a coaching position with the local swimming club, which allowed me to enhance my teaching skills by training the club for professional galas.
Tutoring Approach: I believe that students should develop their knowledge, through a varied program of practical and theorized teachings. Allowing them to learn the subjects by tailoring lessons to each individual student. This will enable them to gaining an overall interest in the topics covered. Tutors must be able to allow student to enjoy the topics and be able to interact with the students.
