Personal Description: I am a 24 year old highly motivated, energetic and enthusiastic teacher with good communication skills and an excellent sense of humour. I have high standards concerning both teaching and learning. I am a positive individual, and this is evident in every part of my role as a teacher, from planning through to classroom management. My teaching strategies are based on multi sensory activities which are reinforced with positive encouragement and praise. I am innovative and work hard to create fresh, exciting lessons which help to enthuse and motivate children into achieving their own personal best. Having high expectations of me and the children in my class creates an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. I state my expectations clearly and ensure that children are aware of what is expected of them at all times by setting clear learning objectives. I build a strong relationship with my children, helping them to feel welcome, happy and cared for. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and especially enjoy having the opportunity to work with children on a 1:1 basis to support and enhance learning in the classroom.

Tutoring Experience: I have 6 years teaching experience in Primary Schools- teaching children from 5-11 years. I became a fully qualified teacher two years ago and currently teach a Year 1 class of 30 children, including 2 Gifted & Talented children and 6 children with Special Educational Needs. I have recently tutored two year 6 children as part of the the One to One Tuition Programme, a Government-funded initiative to help children gain more confidence and understanding in English and Maths. I thoroughly enjoyed tutoring these children and seeing the positive effects the tuition had on these children. Not only did it boost their confidence and motivation to learn, it helped close the gap in attainment, which resulted in 100% Level 4 and above in the SATs this year.

Tutoring Approach: I have an individualised approach to all of my teaching and the children’s learning to ensure that they achieve their full potential. Lessons will be relaxed and always tailored to meet individual needs, including pace, teaching and learning styles and praise/rewards. I set specific, challenging, yet achievable targets with a learning objective and success criteria discussed at the start of each session and reviewed at the end. I am a strong believer in 1:1 tuition and the effect it has on learning as it complements classroom teaching by addressing barriers to learning that are personal and particular to each child.

Qualifications:

• Qualified Teacher Status, B.Ed (Hons) Primary Education specialising in Creative Arts (2.1)
• 4 A Levels (Biology, Sports Science, Theatre Studies, Physics)
• 9 GCSEs (A*-A grade)
• Member of General Teaching Council
