Personal Description: I have been teaching since 2003. Prior to teaching I spent over 20 years developing and supporting software for large computer networks in a number of high profile multi-national companies. A change of career was something I had considered for a number of years but was finally triggered by the death of my first wife on 2001. I have not regretted the career change and am greatly enjoying the challenge of teaching.
Tutoring Experience: I have been teaching for 6 years in MIddle and Secondary schools teaching Maths at KS2, KS3, GCSE and A level.
I am currently teach Maths in Year 9, GCSE and A-Level (including A-Level Further Maths).
I am on the Edexcel list of GCSE Markers.
Tutoring Approach: I have a flexible approach to tutoring. I believe that students who wish to improve will make the effort to identify their weak areas. I will usually spend a significant part of the first session getting a clear idea of the studnet's expectations. I will then tailor subsequent sessions to ensure that students' time is used effectively to address these areas. I will always try to work from the same texts as the student but will use additional resources to extend knowledge.

From Helen (5/5): (A-Level Maths) Philip has kept our son's interest and our son has found the tuition useful.
From Sally-Ann (4/5): (GCSE Maths) The classes are catered especially to my needs, he always asks what I would like to go over in the lesson before hand so that he can bring the necessary books or exercise sheets with him.
