Personal Description: I have a degree in Mathematics and Business Management. After spending some time traveling I undertook a PGCE in Mathematics. I currently teach and am employed as a deputy leader of Mathematics at a secondary school in Derbyshire.

Tutoring Experience: I'm a fully qualified Maths teacher, with a PGCE in Maths Education and three years experience at a Derbyshire secondary school. I've also had a number of tutoring posts in the past and have completed a PfP Mentoring course helping students with difficulties through their GCSE and A-level exams.

Tutoring Approach: I like to first do a diagnostic test to find out where a students weaknesses lie - I then like to go back to basics to highlight misconceptions and build on any missing knowledge before extending a student and meeting new concepts. I have developed a multitude of my own resources, including some interactive web-based activities, mathematical games and assessment focused exam workbooks for the build up to those crucial exams! However, it is really up to the student as to whether they would like to follow my 'curriculum' or their own, e.g. dealing with issues that they've had during their maths lessons that week. The critical aspect is to identify how the best progress can be made and dealing with issues as they arise.
