I'm a committed, enthusiastic history and geography tutor living in Abingdon. When I'm not teaching, I'm busy being a father to two great kids, a 14 year old boy and a 21 year old daughter. In my free time, I enjoy music, dancing, and exercising in and around my home town of Abingdon. I also write and am author of Motivational Teaching (OUP) and several IELTS course books.
I've taught history and geography to A-level students at an international private school in Oxford for 7 years now, specialising in small group and one-to-one teaching. Previously, I enjoyed a career teaching academic English and training teachers. I am also an A-level history and IELTS examiner. I am particularly experienced at teaching syllabi from Cambridge International examinations but also tutor students doing AQA, OCR and Edexcel programmes.
I believe in the importance of engaging and motivating students by inviting them to first share their ideas and attempt tasks before guiding them towards ways of improving their work in accordance with exam criteria. I am committed to ensuring that each student leaves every lesson with a clear understanding of steps they can take to improve and fulfil their potential, together with exercises that allow them to do so.
