Personal Description: I am currently studying English and Social Anthropology at the University of St Andrews. While I am living in Scotland for 30 weeks out of the year, I'm home over Christmas, Easter and Summer holidays and will be available for one off revision sessions during these periods. Also I'm available for online help with coursework essays.
Tutoring Experience: During my time at High School and in College, I have found that struggling pupils have naturally felt comfortable coming to me and asking for help with their work, and so I feel very experienced at helping people along GCSE and A level courses. My English teacher asked me to return to college to help with coursework over my gap year as he felt I am skilled in this area. I helped the A level classes throughout the year with both exam work and coursework and we had some fantastic results. I am also working for 'The English Experience' which is based in Norwich, and I am going to Italy for 2 weeks to teach English as a foreign language to children. I've also had work experience in local Primary Schools, and have experience of working with individuals with learning difficulties.
Tutoring Approach: Growing up I was home-educated and this often involved teaching through unconventional methods in order to keep learning fun and interesting. I regularly helped other children learn things, and I feel this makes my approach to tutoring slightly more original, as I try and show how the subject is relevant and how it can be enjoyed, rather than just being seen as an academic chore. I hope the passion I have for these subjects will be reciprocated in all students. I am happy to focus on whatever specific topics the 'tutee' wishes and I will try my best to tailor the sessions to best suit the needs of each individual.
