Information About Liz

Personal Description: I have lived in Perth for the last 6 years and until recently my husband ran a local restaurant in the centre of Perth. I completed my degree at the University of St Andrews graduating in 2000 then moved to Edinburgh with my husband so that I could complete my PGCE at the University of Edinburgh. I worked for a year at Boroughmuir High School in Edinburgh then moved to Perth.

Tutoring Experience: Over the last 10 years I have taught in a range of different schools and I am currently working in a boarding school in Perth, as well as teaching a full timetable at all levels and I was, until recently, the resident tutor in a girls boarding house where I lived in a self contained flat with my husband. I have tutored numerous children over the last 10 years at a range of levels from Standard Grade to Advanced Higher.

Tutoring Approach: I hope to give children that I tutor an understanding of the concepts behind what they are learning and to help them link all the aspects of the course together in their minds. I always look at the individuals strengths and weaknesses and plan sessions according to these. We will also work on strategies for answering exam questions and strategies to maximise their overall mark.

She is helping build confidence in his own ability and is providing reinforcement where necessary to back up "in class" learning. I'm sure we are on our way upwards from here on in. Liz was very professional yet friendly on meeting and I would have no hesitation in recommending her as a tutor.
