I love teaching children. I am patient and caring and I have a quiet, attentive approach, I will always endeavour to always make learning fun.

Tutoring Experience

I qualified as a Nursery Nurse and spent many years running Nursery Schools giving me a lot of experience teaching EYFS including phonics, early reading, writing and maths. In 2012 I retrained and qualified as a Primary School Teacher with a First-Class Honors Degree from Kingston (London) University. I have over 12 years experience teaching in primary schools and teaching the National Curriculum. My role of a class teacher has meant that I have had to plan and teach all foundation and core subjects; recording and reporting pupil progress to the line manager; report writing; instructing and liaising with support staff; assessing and being accountable for pupil progress; holding pupil progress meetings with parents; providing additional resources and adapting planning to support SEND children; liaising with multi-agencies to support children and leading training to the whole school staff as a subject leader. As History lead, I have worked with History teachers in local secondary schools to ensure that we are preparing children to continue to do well as they progress onto KS3 and KS4 and this initiative that I began, has permeated through our school and now all subject leaders in our school, have developed meaningful working relationships with secondary school teachers in their subjects. High quality teaching is an essential part of my role.

Tutoring Approach

My entire career has been based around working with children and my number one aim has always been to put the child first, no matter what age. Over my career, I have built up a vast amount of expertise and knowledge of children, teens, their families and their needs. This varies from their need for security, (feeling safe and sound, with their basic survival needs met: shelter, food, clothing, medical care and protection from harm) to their need for emotional support, (a sense of belonging, their self-esteem, someone to hear them) to their need for education. All of the settings in which I have worked, has incorporated the need for me to be involved in dealing with children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. I want to see a world where children will create a better, fairer world with enthusiasm, energy and creativity. I am a compassionate, energetic, hard-working individual with a determination to help others. I have an innate desire to make sure that every person is included.
