Personal Description: I am a Cardiff University Music Graduate and graduated with a second class honours in 2009. My principal instrument is violin and I acquired a high 2:1 in my performance modules. I was additionally active in the University windband playing clarinet and I generally played as much as possible. I'm passionate about music in every form and I'm enthusiastic about helping others to further their passion for music! I am also great book-lover, mainly of Victorian novels and poetry but also modern literature. I'm flexible to travel or for pupils to travel to me and I can teach either 30 minute or hour sessions.

Tutoring Experience: I do not have very much professional experience in teaching, however, I taught friends clarinet during university and I have taught beginners violin since. I also lead three separate ensembles at university, frequently requiring me to direct different groups of people and intensively work on small sections of music at a time when leading sectionals. It made me break down music and describe clearly to others how to play in order to achieve a certain effect and develop overall. This has prepared me for teaching and putting myself across confidently in passing on knowledge.

Tutoring Approach: With regards to teaching, I found that skills I gained whilst writing my Dissertation at University, writing coursework essays throughout A Level as well as the numerous essay writing opportunities throughout my education have taught me how to break down material and look into what it's writer is trying to convey. In particular this is what I love most about literature and music. In my tutoring I would try and help my pupil to develop this skill.
